About varicose veins

Varicose veins of the lower limb is called the permanent widening of superficial veins in the shape of long and snakelike lines, knots or bubbles beneath the surface of skin. We can distinguish two kinds of varicose veins: Original, which genesis is rather unknown among the right condition of the deep blood vessels, and Secondary, that are the result of the inflammatory state, or superficial veins injury. It can also be the complication of wrong functioning of deep veins, veins connecting the superficial and deep veins as well as the artery and vein fistula.

 

The varicose veins of the lower limb are observed among the 50 % of the world population and 25% of the Polish nation. It is more often associated with women, thus constitutes a serious aesthetic problem.

The varicose veins treatment includes non-operative method as well as operative one varying from the state of advancing the disease, state of health and the patients’ age.
